Night Of The Lepus

High Level Description:
• Free – there is no entry fee (spend your money in the bar or buy your mechanic a gift)
• 100k of gravel
• Darkness – the race starts and finishes after dusk
• Self-supported – you are responsible for you
Start/Finish:
• Race starts at 7:00 PM in front of the Elks Lodge on the town square in Indianola.
• Race also finishes at the Elks Lodge, when you walk back into the bar to check-in.
• Indianola Elks Lodge is located at 110 W Ashland Ave Indianola, IA 50125
Course:
• The course starts on the town square and then travels out of town to the south east
• The gravel roads on the course are typical for central Iowa. Rolling hills on relatively well-maintained gravel roads.
• There might be an unmaintained ‘Level B’ road thrown in for good measure but nothing too insane.
• At least one open Casey’s convenience store on the route
• Well-stocked check-point at approximately 50k (cookies, water, Gatorade and maybe some beer)
Cue Cards:
• Cue cards with the route will be provided to each rider at registration
• Cue cards will have route instructions in the same format used for CIRREM
Darkness:
• Sunset on Saturday, October 12th is 6:38 PM. You’ll need lights that last as long as you plan to be on the course
• Each rider needs to have a headlight and at least one blinking tail light
• You can’t easily read cue cards with a headlight mounted on your bars while hammering down a gravel road
• It will be dark
Cyyptofauna:
• There are no guarantees offered that mutant rabbits and other cryptofauna do not exist. It will be dark.
• Ride with a buddy if you have one.
• If you are old and weak (and ride like it) and outwardly resemble a dying wildebeest you could become prey.
• You are responsible for you
